Tuesdays At The Table #1

Another day another Blop Hop/Meme.

I bought myself a Doughnut Maker for Christmas. It's one of those heat up, pour in the mixture, cook itself ones. Anyway, I used it for the first time last Saturday & they weren't half bad.

Basic doughnut batter recipe

Makes:
10
Preparation: 5 minutes
Cooking: 12 minutes (6 minutes each batch)

This doughnut batter is best made just before making doughnuts. Un-iced doughnuts will keep in an airtight container for up to 1 day.

1½ cups plain flour
½ cup caster sugar
1½ teaspoons baking powder
125g butter, melted
¾ cup milk
1 egg, lightly beaten

1. Preheat Doughnut machine. Combine dry ingredients in a large bowl. Make a well in the centre. Whisk in the butter, milk and egg until mixture forms a smooth batter. Transfer to a jug or fabric piping bag.

2. Spray machine with cooking oil. Fill bases of preheated doughnut rings with half of the batter. Close lid and cook for 6 minutes or until doughnuts are golden and cooked. Use a non-stick spatula to transfer doughnuts to a wire rack. Repeat with remaining batter to make 10 doughnuts in total.

I then made some icing, with just icing mixture & milk. It didn't work to well & the after effects... I'm toilet training the boys & it definitely wasn't an ideal time to add coloured icing to those doughnuts. Ewww!!!
